There isn't one "best" time to visit Tanzania — the right answer depends entirely on what you most want to see, and being honest about that tradeoff up front saves a lot of confusion later.

If General Wildlife Viewing Is the Priority

June to October, the long dry season. Vegetation thins out and animals concentrate around remaining water sources, making sightings genuinely easier across almost every park.

If the Great Migration Specifically Matters

If Lower Prices and Fewer Crowds Matter More

November, or April-May. These are the short and long rains respectively — wildlife viewing stays genuinely good, and both lodge rates and park crowds drop noticeably.

If You're Climbing Kilimanjaro

January to mid-March, or June to October, for the driest trekking conditions.
