Getting ThereAbout a 45-minute drive from Arusha
Arusha National Park sits in the shadow of Mount Meru, Tanzania's second-highest peak, and packs a striking variety of landscapes into a relatively small area — montane forest, the alkaline Momella Lakes, and open grassland. It's one of the few parks where walking safaris are allowed, and it has some of the country's highest concentrations of giraffe, alongside troops of black-and-white colobus monkeys. Its proximity to Arusha town makes it a convenient and often-overlooked half-day or full-day option.
