Serengeti National Park

The Serengeti is Tanzania's most famous national park — its name comes from the Maasai word "siringet," meaning endless plains. Each year, over 1.5 million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebra move in a continuous loop across the ecosystem in search of grazing, in what's widely called the greatest wildlife spectacle on Earth. Beyond the migration, the Serengeti holds resident populations of lion, leopard, elephant, and all of the Big Five, spread across roughly 14,750 square kilometers of savanna, woodland, and riverine forest.
